5 Essentials Midlife Neck And Décolleté Skincare Routine

Neck And Décolleté Skincare Routine
Your Midlife Neck and Decollete Skincare Routine

Most women out there understand the importance of developing and sticking to the right skincare routine.

This is important throughout your life, but it becomes even more so as you get older, and your skin begins feeling the passage of time.

And while most women in their 40s and 50s probably already have favored face and body creams, few bother with their neck and decollete.

Why do the neck and decollete skincare areas matter?

It’s quite common to assume you can just smear any old lotion on your chest and neck – it’s just skin, right?

Well, that’s where most of us make mistakes.

While the neck and the decollete area are, indeed, made up of skin, like the rest of the body, it’s much more sensitive than the rest.

Often, your regular body moisturizer is simply too heavy and clogging for your decollete, and fails to achieve the desired effect.

Understanding this, some women ditch that and begin using their face cream on the chest area, as well.

What you do, really, is up to you.

But for now, let us run you through the perfect care routine for your chest and neck.

What type of products should you use on this skin area?

As we just mentioned, you might be tempted to use your everyday body products on the neck, chest, and shoulders, but honestly, you shouldn’t.

Your skin in this area is a lot thinner than in other parts of the body, so it risks getting clogged by improper, heavy creams and products.

So really, you have two options here: you either use the products you’re already using on your face, or you invest in dedicated products.

The reason why facial products work better in this area is that they’re designed for thinner, more sensitive skin.

They can be more easily absorbed, and are more gentle on the skin while cleansing and hydrating.

Similarly, you can choose between using commercial products, or if you’d rather opt for a more natural alternative.

For example, a lot of women going through this stage in their life turn to essential oils, such as jojoba oil, known for its moisturizing properties (1).

Lemon oil, on the other hand, may help lighten (2) hyperpigmentation and reduce wrinkles in your decollete area.

Whichever way you go, here are the steps we urge you to follow in caring for your neck, decollete, and shoulder area.

What should your neck and decollete skin care routine look like?

So, caring for your skin is all good and fun, but it’s also important to do things in the proper order, to maximize their effects.

For example, you wouldn’t put on moisturizer before cleansing your skin, would you?

Step 1. Cleanse

How thoroughly you cleanse will depend on what you’ve applied to that portion of skin.

Are you wearing any type of make-up?

Then you’ll probably want to use your make-up remover on the neck/decollete area, as well, to remove any traces of the stuff.

Left on the skin too long, make-up can seriously clog the pores, lead to breakouts and other unfortunate skin issues.

If you don’t need to remove any make-up, we still recommend using a gentle cleanser.

Also, try to avoid harsh scrubbing motions, as the skin in this area is delicate, and tears easily.

Shop online recommended brands:

Step 2. Exfoliate

While hard scrubbing isn’t usually indicated, that doesn’t mean you just want to leave dead skin cells to sit atop your decolletage.

Exfoliation has a myriad of benefits, at any age, and is an important part of your weekly skincare regimen.

Careful, the reason we say weakly instead of daily is that too much exfoliation has never helped anyone.

So try to exfoliate the skin of the decolletage once or twice a week, to get rid of dead skin cells and stimulate the blood flow and collagen production (3).

By getting your skin to produce more collagen, and the blood to flow, you’re inviting the production of new, healthy, and more elastic skin cells.

More collagen implies a better-looking decollete, so don’t forget to exfoliate!

Step 3. Consider retinoids

Retinoids are a big favorite in the anti-aging skincare game.

Why? Retinoids are derived from the naturally-occurring Vitamin A, which also has the excellent benefits(4) of boosting collagen production.

What this means for your decolletage is that in time, retinoids may improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

The neck and chest area is among the most prone to wrinkles, age, and sun damage, which is why topical retinoids may prove particularly beneficial for it.

However, retinoids can be quite aggressive, which is why we think it’s a smart idea to always consult a dermatologist before adding them to your skincare routine!

Shop online:

Step 4. Moisturize

You should never skip out on this step, and particularly not during this stage of your life.

Why? Well, as time progresses, your body’s production of collagen (again) and elastin decreases.

This, in turn, makes skin looser and dryer, which in turn leads to more wrinkles and that unsightly, crepey look.

This is why you need to look for a good, potent moisturizer and use it religiously in your routine.

Our suggestion would be to look for the right products, such as hyaluronic acid, which binds moisture to the skin (5) and helps with the natural skin barrier in the long term.

Shop online:

Step 5. Protect

Lastly, one major element that contributes to skin aging is, of course, sun exposure.

It can cause spots, wrinkles, and infinitely more serious skin melanomas, so you want to lather on some sun protection before you go out.

What sort of SPF you opt for is, again, up to you, but remember that a lot of the sun’s rays hit you right on the chest, so protecting this part of the body is just as important as protecting your face.

All these care steps for your decolletage may seem complicated and time-consuming at first, but fear not – before you know it, you’ll just be doing them as part of your regular skincare routine!

The Ageless System – 4 Core Skincare Principles You Need Right Now

The Ageless System – 4 Core Skincare Principles You Need Right Now

You’ve heard it said that in order to achieve glowing, healthy skin, you need to follow the skincare principles of a strict skincare routine, and that’s largely true.

However, many women simply go online, read some generic guide for the ideal beauty regimen, and then apply that to their lives.

The truth is, things are a little bit trickier.

Everyone is different, and what works well for my skin might not work well for yours, and vice versa.

Similarly, a product that someone in some magazine recommends might have the desired effect on your complexion.

But then again, it might not.

This is why, in this article, we’ll be talking about some core skincare principles you should be applying to your routine.

The Correct, Repair, Rejuvenate and Preserve Routine

Taking our cue from the Julie Lindh “Ageless Beauty System”, today we’ll examine some major goals that shouldn’t be missing from your beauty regimen.

You see, it’s not enough to just pile on a certain cream. You need to also understand why you’re doing it, and what that cream is supposed to achieve for you.

This is where the Correct, Repair, Rejuvenate and Preserve core principles come into play.

The “Ageless Beauty System” is composed of a complex collection of products for all skin types, each ensuring one of these principles.

Rather than following one (say, “Repair” alone) as other beauty product collections do, the Julie Lindh system combines the four with the hopes of designing a foolproof beauty routine.

Rather than designing one specific line for each problem, it offers multiple options for each core principle, and then puts them all into the same concentrated beauty routine.

1. Correct

As the name suggests, the Correct aspect of the Julia Lindh skincare routine actively targets various skin issues, such as acne, redness, discoloration, fine lines, or large pores.

A lot of people with one or more of these issues make the mistake of trying to follow a regular skincare routine.

And then they’re surprised to see it doesn’t yield the desired results.

But obviously, that is because they are not using products that are actually designed for their specific problem.

It stands to reason that you’d first want a step that tries to correct the issue at hand. Otherwise, your beauty treatments are just skirting around the problem, without ever addressing it directly.

Take, for example, the Daily Face Wash from the “Ageless Beauty System”, formulated with natural ingredients, such as rosehip oil, that are helpful for a wide array of skin ailments.

A good source of Vitamin E, rosehip oil acts as a natural moisturizer (1), which helps combat everything from wrinkles to dry skin.

It’s also a potent source of Vitamins A and C, whose antioxidant and revitalizing properties (2) kill the acne-causing bacteria and regenerate dull, lackluster, or aged skin.

Alternatively, you might opt for the Micellar Superfruit Cleansing Water for your “Correct” phase.

Providing a gentle cleanse, it takes off the grime and make-up leftover from during the day.

It’s also a great option for those with acne-prone skin, for whom other types of face wash might be too harsh.

If you really want to “go to town” on your skin, and tackle whatever skin issue has been bothering you, you may also want to supplement with another “Correct” product, like the Lactic GLOW Peel Pads.

Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that acts as a gentle, but effective exfoliator.

It can be particularly useful for those dealing with dry, blemished, or even aged skin since it promotes a more rapid cell turnover (3).

That means, it brings out new, healthy skin cells, while helping you shed the old ones.

Speaking of AHAs, another potent “Correct” exfoliator to try is the Retinol Resurfacing Treatment, which combines lactic acid with retinol, a vitamin A derivative that can also promote healthy skin (4) to grow faster.

This is why retinoids are often used in anti-aging treatments – they promote a rapid cell turnover, and boost collagen production (making skin soft and more elastic).

It’s also often recommended for those struggling with acne-prone skin since the Retinol gently kills bacteria.

Lastly, in the “Correct” phase, we have the Blemish Spot Treatment.

Now, as the name suggests, this one is targeted at people struggling with acne blemishes.

It also uses an AHA (this time, glycolic acid instead of lactic), as well as a more thoroughly exfoliating BHA (salicylic acid) to dry out the pimples and bring out clear, radiant skin.

Ideally, you’ll want to combine one of the washes with one of these three exfoliating products, of course, opting for the one most appropriate for your skin complaints.

See, while we aren’t talking in terms of steps, we’ve already covered the two basics in every skincare routine: cleansing and exfoliating.

2. Repair

The “Repair” phase of the process is similar to the “Correct” one. It also deals with fixing skin damage.

However, the major difference here is that, while “Correct” targets active problems, the “Repair” phase is designed to mop up damage from erstwhile skin ailments.

For example, if you suffered from acne as a youth, but now no longer do, you may still have some lingering damage (redness, marks, scars, etc.).

In “Repair”, you focus on correcting the issues that aren’t caused by active skin concern.

You can think of this as the first step towards creating healthy skin, in the long term.

Remember, in your skincare journey, you’re not just looking to fix a temporary problem, even though that may seem more pressing at the time.

No. here, you’re looking to create a healthy environment and care routine in which your skin can thrive for a long time to come.

This includes moisturizing the skin, but even more importantly, supporting your own body’s cells.

For this, the “Ageless Beauty System” offers the Stem Cell Face Serum, which is apparently recommended for all types of skin.

 And why shouldn’t it be?

As the name already tells us, the Stem Cell Face Serum uses actual stem cells which, when applied to the skin, stimulate the production of your very own stem cells.

These, in turn, have a potent anti-aging effect (5), promoting the production of collagen, giving you firmer, more elastic skin.

The serum combines the power of stem cells with hyaluronic acid, believed by many to be one of the golden elements of skincare.

The main reason why hyaluronic acid is so popular is that it doesn’t just moisturize the skin the way a regular moisturizer would.

Hyaluronic acid helps bind moisture particles (6) to your skin, and so gives you inherently well-moisturized skin.

By bringing forth new, healthy skin cells, the Serum also appears to have a brightening effect on the complexion (which is actually just the shedding of old cells and replacing them with new).

Second, in the “Repair” phase, we have the Dark Circle Corrector.

Now, dark under-eye circles are an incredibly common issue that is usually caused by fatigue but can also be compounded by problems with genetics, blood circulation, and others.

In any case, dark circles under the eyes aren’t caused for concern, mostly, since they’re not related to any serious health issue.

However, they can seriously impact our appearance, and implicitly, our self-confidence.

By combining various potent natural ingredients, such as Centella Asiatica and Arnica, the Dark Circle Corrector lightens the skin under the eyes (and can also be used for hyperpigmentation).

In time, the Corrector can even out the tone of your skin and give you a boost in self-confidence.

All in all, the “Repair” phase is necessary for clearing up old damage and paving the way for new, healthy development.

3. Rejuvenate

Next, in our quest for glowing skin, we can finally begin crafting that new, healthy visage we’ve been talking about.

In the previous steps, we’ve addressed the most common skin issues, past or present, and now that those are taken care of, we can finally begin focusing on rejuvenation.

Some women make the mistake of assuming that rejuvenation is important only for more mature skin.

After all, the name itself implies that you’re bringing back a youthful allure, which as a young woman, you assume you already have.

But that is simply not the case. The truth is, all women, regardless of age, need to invest in some good rejuvenating products, because it’s not so much about the age itself, as it is about the process of skin aging.

You can suffer from dull, dry, or lackluster skin just as easily at 20, as you could at 50.

So of course, the Julie Lindh collection focuses quite heavily on this aspect of beauty skin care as well.

The Rejuvenate part of the collection targets skin that is aging prematurely, as well as combating free radical damage, and other common concerns.

For this, they’ve created the Potent Peptide Serum, which specifically targets skin that’s failing to produce enough collagen.

Peptides are essentially tiny particles that make up the collagen your skin is lacking, and by getting inside your skin, this serum re-creates that layer of elasticity that’s missing. A peptide concoction will, in time, give you plumper and softer skin.

Alternatively, you can opt for their Youth Renewal Eye Serum, or of course, use the two in tandem.

Much like the Dark Circle Corrector from earlier, this one targets the eye area specifically.

This eye serum uses a potent concoction of ingredients that target under-eye darkness, but also focus on firming up the skin, in general.

As pretty much every woman knows, the skin around the eyes is much more thin and sensitive than in other parts of the body.

It also has to put up with fairly more manhandling, which with many women frequently using makeup on their eyes.

That, combined with constant wear and tear from everyday expressions and microexpressions, the skin around the eyes can wrinkle and become damaged a lot quicker.

This is why you need a product catering specifically to that part of the body.

Lastly, the Julie Lindh collection for ageless beauty also offers a Volume Lift Face Serum, which, as its name suggests, targets skin that is sagging and losing its firmness.

Like the previous products we looked at, this one is a great idea for all ages and types of skin, but probably most effective in treating aging skin.

Clients compare its effects with those of professional skin filler, meaning it gave them firmer, smoother skin, thus rejuvenating their appearance.

4. Preserve

The last step in our care regimen, of course, is that of Preserving what we already have.

Our face is beautiful by nature, and skin, in itself, is miraculous. And even when our skin has started disappointing us a little bit, small care efforts, such as the ones outlined above can really make a difference and give us something worth preserving.

We’ve dealt in previous steps with treating the signs of skin ailments both past and present, as well as kickstarting some new healthy routines.

Now, it’s time to focus on preserving all the good things we’ve created, and we can only do that by taking preservation steps every day.

Similar to the serum we talked of earlier, the Daily Dose Creme is formulated using a careful blend of peptides that nourish and maintain the appearance of your skin.

The Creme is great to add to your skincare routine as you work your way to your ideal visage, but also to maintain that once it’s achieved.

In fact, it would be smart to stick to whatever routine you’ve created for yourself because that’s the only way you will see a lasting improvement in how your skin looks.

And, that’s it!

Well, yes and no.

You’ll also want to focus on additional steps for your skin, such as SPF or masks (of which the Ageless Beauty System has plenty).

But on an everyday basis, these are the four pillars you want to stick to for a glowing, healthy appearance.

You’ll want to mix and match the Julie Lindh products to suit your own personal necessities, of course, but hopefully, this article has given you a good intro to what each of them does.

Trying to Conceive: 9 Solutions When Medication Doesn’t Work – Even After 40

Trying to Conceive

Having a child is one of life’s greatest blessings.

For many women, it endows you with a new purpose and gives a sense of completeness and fulfillment that few other accomplishments can.

It is for that reason that most of us try to conceive, and it is also because of this that we feel great frustration when we’re unable to.

If you and your partner are having trouble getting pregnant, we urge you not to despair.

We know that’s not what you want to hear, especially in such trying times. But there are plenty of options and paths you can try in order to conceive a child, hence the do not despair part.

In this article, we’ll look at multiple alternative solutions and tips for conceiving, when the traditional, medical route has failed.

It can be quite tempting to just give up when you see medical efforts fail, but that is not the end of the road.

There are still several options to try, so let’s see what they are!

1. Change up your diet

They say we are what we eat, right?

Well, while diet alone can’t really be blamed for fertility troubles, it does impact our hormone levels, as well as other related aspects of our body.

This is why alternative experts and even many physicians recommend altering your diet if you’re looking to conceive.

For one thing, studies have shown that (1) boosting your folate intake can increase your chances of getting pregnant, both in the clinic, as well as the old-fashioned way (e.g. implantation).

And the same goes for your partner!

Another study from a few years back found a link between a diet rich in antioxidants (folate is an antioxidant, by the way) and boosted sperm quality.

So to increase your chances of getting pregnant, make sure you include some antioxidant-rich foods in your diet, such as:

  • Dark chocolate;
  • Berries;
  • Nuts;
  • Leafy greens (dark in color if possible);
  • Vegetables;
  • Fruit (especially citrus, which is rich in Vitamin C).

But don’t stop there.

Research has also unearthed (2) an interesting link between the food that is high in fiber and fertility, showing that those who consumed a lot of fiber (from cereal, to be specific) had fewer chances of suffering from infertility.

2. Stick to a healthy workout schedule

Exercise has lots of excellent benefits, of course, but did you know it might also be impacting your fertility chances?

While we understand that right now, you just don’t have the energy and drive to go for a jog, it might be a good idea to do so.

Studies have found (3)  that regular exercise can boost your fertility (and that of your partner), so why not join a gym together?

At the same time, you want to remember not to overdo it, because too much exercise (or alternatively, highly intense exercise) can actually prove detrimental to your conception efforts.

This means that while you’ll want to put in some yoga or go for the occasional run, you don’t want to go full bodybuilder here, as that, in turn, might also be a bad idea!

Your goal should be to maintain an active lifestyle and a healthy weight, since that may also boost your chances of getting pregnant.

3. Consider cutting back on work

We all know that prolonged high-stress situations can have various negative effects on our health, among which, they can decrease the chances of fertility.

Research has found (4) that people who are under a lot of pressure at their job or work long shifts on a regular basis may encounter fertility issues along the way.

This can be equally true and about your partner, so if one of you is experiencing fertility problems while also working a demanding job, don’t ignore the link between the two.

If that’s you, you might consider cutting back on work hours and, if possible, even changing your job, since a demanding job wouldn’t really be realistic anyway, once you have your baby.

It’s important to make active efforts to eliminate stress and relax, in order to allow your body to function optimally.

4. Meditate

We understand why you might be a little bit skeptical at this, but don’t worry, we’re not suggesting you magically think your baby into your womb!

But meditation can and often does play an important role in a couple’s struggle for fertility, for one simple reason: it improves balance.

Every time we are anxious, angry, or depressed (all those nasty feelings that are natural in this struggle),  affects our hormone levels.

These, in turn, are directly related to your fertility chances (5), because of course, you need to have hormonal balance in order to conceive a child.

This is where meditation can help.

By assuaging those nagging, worrying voices inside your mind, you are establishing a calmer, more composed mindset.

An improved mental balance breathes emotional and physical balance, as well.

We know it seems easier said than done – how can you not be angry in this situation? – but the truth is, your nerves aren’t doing you or your baby any favors.

Not really the meditating type?

That shouldn’t be a problem.

Nowadays, there are numerous guides out there who specialize in helping people struggling with infertility.

Circle&Bloom offer guided fertility meditations for those trying to conceive, and cater to various needs every step of the way.

What’s great about that is you’ll be able to take your meditations with you throughout your pregnancy – because keeping calm and mentally balanced is just as important when you’re carrying!

5. Try some supplements

While there are numerous supplements on the market out there, vendors as “fertility supplements”, few actually yield results.

And of course, we’re not going to claim any-one supplement is the unchallenged king of fertility.

Of course not. Since no two women are alike, the success rates of these supplements can vary wildly.

One supplement that worked well for someone you know might not have the same results for you, and vice-versa, and that’s to do with the fact that your two bodies are different.

You can check out here Vanchrozin minerals liquid concentrate that supports normal fertility.

All that being said, there are some interesting findings to do with natural supplements to boost fertility.

  • Bee pollen, for example, has been linked (6) to improved sperm quality and higher fertility rates in males, just as propolis has shown some promising (7) evidence that it may improve fertility in females.
  • Royal jelly, a by-product of bees, has also been linked to better reproductive health.

All of these natural ingredients have, at the very least, been linked to higher chances of conceiving.

And they are all also said to have numerous other health benefits, as well, so at least, we know they can’t hurt!

6. Give essential oils a try

No doubt you’ve heard it said that certain essential oils can boost your fertility, sperm quality, and so on.

And understandably, you’re probably doubtful.

So let’s talk a bit about which essential oils have actually been scientifically linked to improved fertility, and also how you might use them.

If you decide to use essential oils for fertility, we recommend doing so with the help of a diffuser.

While some oils are recommended for topical application, don’t use unauthorized oils on your skin.

Also, just because it’s essential doesn’t mean it’s good.

There are numerous essential oils, such as basil, aniseed, camphor, and pennyroyal, which you’d best be advised to avoid while you’re trying to conceive.

7. Avoid excess

While this isn’t a way to get pregnant per se, it’s an important thing to keep in mind, as you work to conceive.

As you might expect, going too far in any one way can have a seriously damaging effect both on your body and your chances to get pregnant.

So try to aim for the right balance in your life, even though that may be hard to do as you wobble under the obvious frustrations in this situation.

Some experts claim there may be a link (11) between a high caffeine intake and infertility.

Though research on that is fairly limited and more needs to be discovered to give a definite answer, we figure it can’t hurt to tone down the excess.

That means, if you normally thrive on three cups of coffee, maybe you’ll want to go down to two, and even one, if possible.

Carefully, however, since caffeine withdrawal is a very real and unpleasant occurrence that might also impact your chances of getting pregnant.

Similarly, you’ll want to watch your alcohol intake and make sure you don’t go overboard.

Studies have shown (12) that there may be a relation between excessive alcohol consumption and infertility.

As with caffeine, more studies need to be performed before we have a definitive answer, but we still think that moderating your alcohol intake can’t hurt.

Drinking too much alcohol not only affects judgment and cognitive functions but also has a negative impact on the reproductive system.

By wreaking havoc on your hormones (13), alcohol intake may inhibit your fertility chances, so remember, moderation is key.

8. Don’t follow a strict sex schedule

This probably goes against everything you’ve been told, right?

If you’ve been trying to conceive for a while, you probably know that in order to get pregnant, you need to have sex during ovulation.

And we’re not saying you shouldn’t. We’re merely counseling against following a strict, rigid sex schedule, and only having sex on those days.

While many couples trying to conceive “save themselves” for those potent few days, it might actually be beneficial to begin your efforts a few days ahead.

Why? Because sperm remains in the body for up to five days after it’s been released (14), and if you begin having sex before your ovulation days, you’re actually increasing your chances of getting pregnant.

Another reason why you won’t want to follow a strict schedule is that it adds stress which, as we’ve seen, can have a seriously damaging effect (15) on your ability to conceive.

Not only that, but it also puts a lot of pressure on your partner, since he’ll really feel like he must “perform” during those fertile few days.

In recent years, studies have unearthed (16) a clear link between stress and decreased sperm quality.

If you need a boost you might like to check: 18 Tips and Tricks to Show Your Femininity and Physical Attractiveness at Any Age.

9. Shift your mindset

Well, to be fair, all of the above methods are related, since they all somehow impact your mindset and mentality.

It’s natural that in this time, you focus on your physical welfare and do what you can to boost fertility on a physical level.

But it’s important to remember that pregnancy is so much more.

It’s a mental thing, and that’s not just because of the obvious relationship between stress and fertility.

In order to improve your chances of getting pregnant, you also need to focus on shifting your mindset to the right place.

For some, this might mean meditation or yoga.

For others, it may be a long walk or listening to their favorite song.

Everyone’s a little different, but as you try to get pregnant, make time for the things that make you happy, and more importantly, relaxed.

Recommended program: Circle & Bloom – improving fertility support.

The takeouts

Yes, conceiving can be a laborious and complex task, but you also need to make time for yourself.

Don’t let your pregnancy efforts take over your entire life, because you are not doing yourself or your baby any favors in doing that.

9 Ways to Get You in the Mood After 50 and Keep Passion Alive

It’s a common misconception in our modern society that as you age, you lose interest in sex.

We believe this so much that we rarely think of people after a certain age as sexual, when in fact, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

While there are some physical changes in your body as you grow older, that doesn’t mean you become any less interested in sex. Nor that sex continues to play a vital role in a healthy lifestyle.

In spite of diminishing hormones and the end of our fertile years, many women remain interested in sexual pleasure even in the years after menopause.

We still can have great sex in our middle years (1). We still feel desire, enjoy fantasies and have orgasms.

In fact, research shows that mature women have and enjoy as much sex as they used to in their early 40s.

Sex can be even better in later life (2).

I this because:

  • We feel less inhibited or less restrained?
  • We found more confidence or have a ‘less care’ attitude?
  • Do we relax more, knowing that we can’t get pregnant or that we won’t be interrupted?

Whatever the reason, it’s a MYTH that we STOP wanting sex as we grow older especially after menopause.

You only have ONE sex life. Challenge any thoughts that are holding you back and LIVE!

As we get older, we need to feel sexy and turned on. We need reminders that we are beautiful, desired, interesting, and appreciated in non-sexual ways before we can get engage with our sexual selves.

Once we’re getting that, we can begin to look at what we need to do for our mojos.

So in the lines below, we’ll address a delicate topic – ways to get you in the mood after 50 – to enlivening your sexual energy, body confidence, and sexual know-how.

1. Make Time…

Hey, we get it, we’ve all got busy schedules. And while in the early stages of a relationship, there’s nothing nicer than spending some alone-time with your partner, as the relationship changes, so do your priorities.

After a long day, you’re more tempted by a restful sleep, than by a session of dirty fun, and that’s understandable.

It’s also the main reason why intimacy tends to disappear from relationships.

Sex is an important part of our lives, one that fulfills a need both on a physical, as well as on an emotional level.

When those needs go unmet, both the body and the mind become rattled.

An unfulfilling sex life leads to crankiness, frustration, self-doubt, and a hoard of other negative things that, in the long run, affect (and sometimes even ruin) your relationship.

So make sure you make time for intimacy, in spite of how busy your schedule is!

2. …But Don’t Treat It as a Chore!

If you’re in a committed, long-term relationship, it’s quite common to view sex as something of a chore, rather than a pleasure.

The first thing you need to remember is that sex is supposed to be fun, not a duty.

It’s not doing the dishes or vacuuming, it’s an act of release and connection to be shared with your significant other.

So whenever you find yourself thinking of sex (or even doing it) with a “soldier on” mentality, stop.

Instead, take a moment and think of something arousing and appealing to you.

Try to remember how fun sex used to be! Where did that go?

3. Spice It Up a Little

There’s a lot of unjustified stigma around sex toys and apparel in our modern culture, and it may be impacting your sex life.

Maybe you think you’re not into that sort of thing, or that “traditional” sexual relations are enough for you.

But quite often, a little external stimulation can be just what you need to get your relationship back on track.

It’s not about being “freaky”, but about the novelty.

It’s natural in any relationship that, in time, sex gets a little… repetitive.

4. Exercise

It is now pretty much a given that regular exercise can make an enormous difference to our quality of life.

We see all the time women that become somewhat obsessed with exercising to burn calories and lose fat but what you might not know is that exercising real benefit lies in its ability to help build and regenerate new tissue and get our bodies running at a higher metabolic rate.

With regular exercise, everything improves – our skin, our hair, our heart, our brain and memory, our sex life – while the risk of many diseases reduces.

The hardest part is getting started.

Whether it’s yoga, walking, running, swimming, weights – at home, in the gym, or outdoors – once exercise becomes part of your life and daily routine, a strong, toned body, and mind will be yours.

Exercise will automatically help you in the bedroom, in more ways than one.

  • First, there’s the obvious connection, since sex is also physical exercise, and the fitter you are, the less you have to worry about it.
  • Secondly, exercise will help in the bedroom because it will boost your self-confidence.

It’s not uncommon for ladies of any age to struggle a bit with their self-image, so exercise is a two-for-one sort of deal, in this case.

5. If You’re Single, Take Steps to Rectify That

Most of the advice on this list will help you regardless if you’re single or in a long-term relationship, but for this one, let’s focus on all the single ladies.

Being single is always quite a blow to your self-esteem at any age, but it becomes even more damaging as you age.

Being single after 50 can lead to all sorts of negative assumptions, most commonly that you are no longer attractive.

That’s far from true.

Usually, you get to this place because of emotional baggage, waning self-confidence, and even fewer socializing opportunities. Not at all because you’re unattractive.

No matter what your situation for being single is, there are still ways to get you in the mood and feel pleasure.

Self-pleasure or self-love

And yes, you guessed it right!

Masturbation is a very clear term but has negative connotations for many. So, let’s call it self-love or self-pleasure.

If you never tried the self-loving practice, you wouldn’t think about it but you must know that nothing will get your mojo back quicker than some good old self-loving.

Tips for ‘intimate self-pleasure:

  • Enjoy some ‘me-time’ – spend a few minutes transitioning from your busy world to the world of self-love;
  • Run yourself a nice relaxing bath, light candles, listen to some music, read or watch something sexy to get you in the mood;
  • Breath deeply for a few minutes and then start touching yourself with curiosity;
  • This part can be a battle between your shame and your empowerment but you’ll need to take it seriously. Negative self-talk will push you away from orgasm.
  • Give yourself about 20 minutes of self-loving before bringing yourself to orgasm;
  • If you don’t know how to get there, have forgotten, or want to up-skill and try new ways to come, join Mystery Pleasure Box.

A minimum of 20 minutes three times a week will fuel your desire levels, as long as you’re enjoying yourself.

So if you’re single and unhappy about that, then take the initiative.

6. Try a Dating App

Well, this one’s really an addition to that last tip.

But it’s worth throwing out there, because it is a common misconception, especially among people of a certain age, that dating apps are all about sex.

While that may have been true at one point, in recent years, dating apps have grown to cater to a much wider audience.

Nowadays, a lot of the people you’ll meet on dating apps are looking for something more than just a one-night stand, so it might be worth trying out.

There really is nothing quite like a new romance to boost your self-confidence and remind you how attractive you are!

7.  Devote Time to Fantasies

It’s not healthy to spend too much time fantasizing, as it generally takes away from reality.

But it’s also not healthy to forsake fantasizing as something puerile and pointless. Good, exciting fantasy is just what you need to get you in the mood and spark some passion.

  • Recall your sexiest encounters or imagine what you’d like to try.
  • Use your favorite sex or love scene from a movie or a novel to whet your appetite before.
  • Imagine yourself in the scenes, and if that incorporates your partner, even better. But if it doesn’t, don’t be ashamed or worry. They are just fantasies and not plans.

8. Tell Your Partner What You Want

Once you’ve had that fantasy, why not communicate it to your partner?

A surprising percentage of couples have trouble communicating, particularly when it comes to the bedroom, and that only dampens the experience.

Literally one of the smartest moves to boost confidence and improve your sex life is to have an open-minded chat with your partner about what you find appealing.

Here are some tips for successful communication:

  • Take some time and think about what you want to say (make notes if necessary);
  • Schedule a ‘talk time’ that suits both (avoid any busy time: social occasions, bed-time, kids activities, or car journeys). You need quality talk-time.
  • Make yourself clear and don’t contradict yourself just to make your partner feel better;
  • Keep it short but to the point.
  • Be calm and keep breathing;
  • If you feel yourself getting upset, angry, or fearful, stop and take a break but let your partner know that you will return – and make sure you do.
  • Express your feelings and needs. There is nothing wrong with them and your partner only needs to understand them, not to agree with you or meet your needs. That should be a different conversation.

9. Indulge in a Little Adult Fiction

Okay, we all laughed at things like 50 Shades of Grey, but as it turns out, it’s a pretty sure-fire way to get yourself in the mood, hence its popularity.

A dose of 18+ fiction can spice up your own imagination and get you feeling sensual and Fresh Fiction Box Not to Miss it might be just what you need.
